Lead in Toys May be Addressed

Today’s news included an encouraging article regarding lead safety. As reported by the Washington Post, it is anticipated that the Consumer Product Safety Commission will release a legal opinion later today stating even existing inventory must meet the new safety standards set forth in the products safety legislation discussed here. The lead limit applies to products for children up to age twelve so clothing, electronics, and toy manufacturers are affected.
It is important for parents and others shopping for children to note that companies have until February 10, 2009 to meet the new standard so be careful while shopping this holiday season.
