Product Review for Simple Shoes

July 22, 2008 by Steph

simple shoes reviewThe heat of summer arrived with a vengeance this year! As a result, I’ve been seeking ways to stay cool. My favorite pair of sandals fell apart last fall so finding a new pair was high on my to do list.

We can’t afford to replace all our possessions with eco-friendly options, and don’t think that would be particularly green either, but are trying to make sure our purchases are eco-friendly whenever we can. I wasn’t sure if there were affordable and comfortable and attractive eco-friendly shoes but decided to see what the options were.

After quite a bit of looking, I found Simple Shoes. This company is fabulous – they create cute sustainable shoes (and bags!) that don’t cost an arm and a leg. Their materials include organic cotton, bamboo, and recycled tires and inner tubes. Their parent company, Deckers Outdoor Corporation, has created an ethical supply chain so the process for making their shoes respects both human rights and environmental standards. It was nice to buy a pair of shoes and not have to wonder if young children were involved in their manufacture.

I found a pair of Simple Shoes sandals that are very comfortable. Yesterday I wore them to the park and other moms asked where I got them. ☺ Even my girls think they were pretty! They have shoes for children as well as adults so I’ll let you know how my kids like Simple Shoe’s ecoSNEAKS® once they need new shoes. Which seems to be every other month these days!
