More Questions Raised about Bisphenol-A

September 4, 2008 by Steph

more questions raised bpaToday’s Washington Post reports on a new bispenol-A study. The study, conducted by the Yale School of Medicine, showed issues in brain function and moods in primates who were exposed to the chemical.

The researchers exposed monkeys to levels of bisphenol-A that are currently listed by the Environmental Protection Agency as safe level for humans. Exposure led to problems with learning, memory, and mood.

Bisphenol-A, also known as BPA, is added to plastics and is commonly found in baby bottles, sippy cups, food containers, and the linings of canned goods.

Since consumption of BPA has been linked to behavioral issues in children and the development of cancer in animal studies, as well as hormone disruption in females, we’ve taken steps to protect our girls from BPA. I’ll be writing more about this in future articles.
